Meet our brave boy, Sheriff akaTrooper! He is a young Great Pyrenees of 18 months who has already seen a lot. He was found as a stray with open wounds on his neck, most likely having been attacked by either dogs or coyotes out in the country. He was rescued by the local Sheriff, who put him in his car and took him to get help. Had this Sheriff not picked him up, Trooper probably would not have survived.
When his foster family collected him from the vet, he was very downtrodden, depressed and also quite fearful. We can only assume the caliber of human he was previously accustomed to. For the first 2 weeks in his foster home, he received medication and foster mom tended to his wounds several times a day. He was so very good, letting her clean his wounds, never flinching. His coat is long, thick and beautiful and he is going to be one handsome fella once all healed. Having this experience was bonding and Trooper learned of human kindness.
Since he had finished with the medication and his wounds are closing up nicely, foster mom has learned so much about Trooper. She has found he is VERY laid back. Just really does not get excited unless the topic is food. He loves to go on a walk and walks so nicely on leash. He loves a good bone and chew toys. He is good with other dogs. Foster Mom says, "He is just an all around sweetheart of a boy, wanting to be with his people at all times. A true love sponge!"
With a lot of long overdue attention and acceptance, Trooper’s true personality has emerged. One of pure love and the desire to be a loved family member. He will make his new family VERY happy.
