Introducing Lexi, a clever, 9 month old Pyrenees who brings “My Fair Lady” to mind. After Lexi had been turned in to a shelter, it was her rugged charm that got her noticed and ultimately saved by a rescue group. After three days in the shelter, she found herself in a loving foster home with many new lessons of etiquette ahead of her. In her foster home, Lexi is experiencing indoor living for the first time. It took her a couple of days to get accustomed to new noises of the washing machine, microwave and such. But she has found quickly that being a loved-on pet is something she can get used to. Foster Mom says, “Lexi is a love bug and soaks up affection.” Foster mom knows there is a diamond under those ruff edges and has been working to smooth them out so she can shine. She has been learning to walk on her leash and does a great job saying a friendly “hello” to all passersby. She is crate trained and working on house training, a totally new experience for a girl who has lived outdoors. But she is eager to please and in no time she will earn a pyrfect score in manners. Lexi is very responsive to instruction and a quick learner. Taking cue from her Pyrenees foster sibling, she mastered the unfamiliar stairs in just two days. She has also learned to be respectful of the resident felines. She is starting to demonstrate her guardian instincts when she sees “strangers” through the window but when Foster Mom confirms they are “friends” she curbs her barking Lexi is a playful, active girl. She would thrive in a home with a permanent pal to run and wrestle with. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes. She would do equally well as the only dog if she’s allowed to participate in family outings and frequent playdates. She has been great with everyone she meets. Very social and friendly. She would prefer older children as she is young and can forget her size when she is excited. Lexi is eager to meet her new family and show you all she has learned. She has everything it takes to be the distinguished Great Pyrenees she was intended to be. She just needed someone to love her and show her what she had on the inside all along.
