Loving Leonard was born around February of 2013 and is a very LARGE puppy.  He adores all people and is submissive but friendly with other dogs.  He will lie down or run away to avoid an altercation with a dominant dog.  He has been very easy to groom, does not mind having his nails clipped, and if you ignore his "Pyr paw" he will take your hand gently in his mouth and direct you to pet him.  This "mouthiness" is usually outgrown but could be a little scary for a very small child although we have not seen him try it with anyone except adults.  He needs toys, because if a human is not around to play with, he needs other things and is only too happy to clear off the top of the desk.  He does not seem to chew things up so much as just lick and examine them a lot.  He is housebroken and he does not bark, so far, as there are plenty of other dogs around to do the barking here.  He did whimper a little during his first night here and when let out, went about the business he needed to do, then happily came back in.  Although he had been a stray for awhile before coming into rescue, it seems that he has had some training on basic commands and may have had a device used on him to keep him from barking.  Apparently he was not in a yard with adequate fencing - their loss, our gain!  He is happy either indoors or outdoors.  It is impossible not to fall in love with him, our valentine.
