About Cosette

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: White
  • Declawed: No
  • Housetrained: Yes

We estimate that Cosette was born around June of 2012.  She may have been a feral dog, completely unsocialized with people or other domesticated dogs before she was rescued. However, though she seemed terrified of many things in a yard in the beginning, she never showed ANY signs of fear aggression, and has never acted like a dog who was abused.  Her body posture and general attitude was that of an animal that doesn’t quite know what to expect from humans.  She is learning what it means to be part of a stable pack of domesticated dogs.  She tries to play with the other Pyrs, but since play is something new to her, she can be a little rougher than our other dogs, so she can’t always get them to engage with her.  She’s getting better in that regard.  The puppies almost always seem to like playing with her.  She is house-trained and is completely reliable when left alone.   She does fairly well on a leash though hesitates at doors and gates (what's on the other side?).  She loves a large area to explore, but it may not best the best thing for her as she tends to forget she is supposed to be domesticated now, so taking her out on a leash is a good idea for now.  She now enjoys sleeping in her humans' bedroom.

Cosette will need lots of consistent love and attention to win her trust and affection.  Even though she was completely unsocialized at first, it’s clear that the gentle nature of a Pyr runs strong in Cosette, because she seems to really WANT to be tame and to trust us, and she has never growled or bared her teeth or shown ANY signs of aggression.

Spin Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere.
All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention.  Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
