Scout is a special needs pup because of seizures she has since birth (we assume) which are now under control by medication. In spite of a rough start in life, Scout is a very happy girl, with an estimated date of birth of 9/11/12. She has spent most of her life so far outside or in a barn, but she is learning to be in the house now. She gets along just fine with the other dogs in her home, as well as the goats and free-range chickens. She is a little shy about meeting new people and new dogs. Scout's foster mom believes she would do best in a home with a patient and gentle canine companion or a human who will devote the time and energy to engage with Scout in her unique kind of play, which involves a little bit of running and jumping, nipping (as almost all Pyrs do when they play among themselves), and some rubbing of noses and foreheads. Please watch the video to see this happy girl as she tries (unsuccessfully) to get other Pyrs to play with her. Scout's foster mom makes a point of playing with her a few times a day, and Scout clearly loves their time together. Scout is also content to lie in the sun and watch her goat and chicken friends. She needs a family who can offer her consistency -- people who will understand the importance of administering her meds every 12 hours no matter what else is on the schedule each day, and a home where she can get to know the people and animals and not be faced with too many changes from day to day.
Spin Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
