Little Nell is a sweet beautiful young lady with the misfortune of being blind from birth, and then life handed her some additional misfortunes and abuses, but you would never know it from her happy personality. Her hearing is excellent and she is often the first to hear a faint tiny noise that needs to be barked at. Once she learns her way around an area, she is not slowed down in the least by her disability and from a distance you would never guess that she is blind. If she cannot find a nearby dog to play with she just jumps around and plays happily by herself, but when she does find one of her doggy friends close, she pounces on them happily, so if they are not in a playful mood they just keep their distance! When she comes inside, she requires about 15 minutes of serious petting and then settles down on her bed. It only took her a couple of days to learn her way around the yard in her foster home to the point that she could run across it with some degree of confidence. In a new area, she moves slowly with her nose to the ground, moving her head from side to side; after that she usually remembers her way. She was probably born around January of 2009. She needs a home with children and other dogs so she can shower them with her love. She has much to teach us about disabilities!
Spin Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere.
All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
