Perfect Patrick was first called the " Perfect Dog" when described to us.  He is a perfect example of his breed in his appearance and personality.  He seems to have wandered away from a home where he received lots of kind training including excellent inside manners, excellent skills on a leash, and other signs of serious instruction.  For example, he restrains himself from putting his paw on your arm to ask for attention, even though this "Pyr Paw" is very basic to the pyr personality, and he also is careful not to jump up on you, even though he may jump around on his hind legs in delight to see you.  He would be an ideal therapy dog and may well have been one.  We just can't imagine how he became separated from his home, but we hope to find him another really good one.

Patrick gets along with other adult dogs of any size and walks away from potential arguments but he is not fond of puppies, even puppies that are bigger than he is - he does not want to play puppy games with them or have them climbing all over him, and will let them know with a little growl.  Usually puppies are happy to back off and give him his space.   He takes his turn barking at night with a wonderful deep intimidting "WOOF" and so far, no monsters have dared to come into his yard. He also enjoys a good romp outisde.  Inside he just wants to be near his people; in fact, when he finds he is alone in one room and you in another, he chirps like a baby bird for you to come and get him.  He is very cautious on smooth slippery flooring but is learning to take his time to get across the room.  He is very nervous during thunderstorms and will need to be right by your side; hopefully you will keep a towel handy for the panting and drooling, or you might try a sedative if a storm is coming.  He seems to be okay with other loud noise such as gunshots and perhaps fireworks.
He has been treated for heartworms and has come through in fine shape.  He is neutered and current on all vaccinations.
