Ranier came under SPINs umbrella in dire need of some TLC. Born in January of 2006, he was picked up as a stray with his puppy-size collar embedded in his adult-size neck and skinny, skinny, SKINNY!!!

The collar was removed and his neck is healed and he now wears a normal collar and of course all the great meals from foster mommy has put the weight on the boy. Now that Ranier is in a happy place his tail wags NONSTOP!! He is VERY affectionate and absolutely loves to have his humans look his way. Dogs are so very forgiving and Ranier is a shining example of that wonderful trait.

Our boy is the Class Clown. When he arrived he had such a dislike of walking on laminate floors that he took up residence on a 2x4' piece of rug and refused to leave it. He would do his food dance as dinner approached from his rug - bowing, dipping, dancing without leaving his rug. He tried to explore his surroundings while keeping 1 toe of 1 foot safely planted on his rug and if he found himself off it completely he would walk BACKWARDS til the toe reached safe haven. He is much better now and has found that if he perambulates with a certain dignity and composure he can maneuver around on unrugged floors just fine.

He is incredibly neat ~ after he does his potty business (outdoors always of course) he very carefully buries it completely leaving only a neat little mound of sand. He is very sweet and affectionate with his human family but becomes very protective when strangers are about and he knows the difference. He gets along with most dogs but once a dog disrepects him he does not forget.

Ranier may have had a not so great start in life but he is certainly ready, willing and able to make up for it when the family that will be fortunate enough to have him become their newest member meets up with him!!!
