Hey everyone, meet Barkly. And just look at that smile, have you ever seen a broader doggie grin? He's a sweet boy for sure. He found himself dumped at a shelter and was in sorry shape. SPIN came to his rescue and here he is. He is very affectionate and was very tolerant having his toenails cut and his tender back end deburred. Barkly is about 1 year old so how about we share his birthday with the July 4th holiday (he came into the world on July 4th 2005).

This sweet young man came to us only getting around on 3 1/2 legs, he has had surgery to repair a hip concern (which he came through like a trooper) and has been deemed fit as a fiddle by his doctor. He walks normally now but still has a little bit of an odd gait when he runs which is expected to improve greatly with time.

Barkly is the perfect gentledog, another candidate for Gentledog's Quarterly cover (if they had a doggie version of GQ that is). He is handsome, charismatic and just generally all around captivating.

Oh and by the way he really enjoys a good piece of rawhide for chewing but happily gives up anything he isn't really supposed to have. And he DOES live up to his name. And Barkly snores! And he whimpers when he wants attention, he is a very vocal guy.

All he needs now is a home of his own and a family to have his little "talks" with.
