About Flo

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
Gracie (aka Flo) came in to the program from a shelter with mange so bad that she was bald and half her tail was missing. after much care and love, she was ready to find a home to call her own. susie had had back surgery and needed a dog to help her stand and to help keep her steady when she walked. she contacted SPIN and asked if we had anyone who would work. gracie, then known as flo, immediately came to mind. gracie is now a service dog and goes everywhere with susie; the 2 are inseparatable. When a SPINner first met Flo, she was not a white dog, she was a beet red, skin and bones, mangy looking girl without a stitch of hair on her. She had the saddest eyes our SPINner had seen. Marie started crying for the life this girl must have had before being under the shelter care.

Moved by Marie's tears, the wonderful Animal Control officer took Flo to the vets the next day for treatment of her mange and other problems. Then she took Flo home with her and spared her life. Flo still does not look 100% but with time she will be a gorgeous girl. She has a way to go yet, but the sadness is starting to leave her face. Flo has beautiful hair now, and is gaining weight. She is an incredibly gentle girl who gets along with everyone, including dogs, cats and kids. She loves sleeping on the couch or in the bed with her humans.

Given a chance, Flo will make a very special companion for someone who can look beyond her current imperfections and see how beautiful she will become, and what a kind soul 5 yr old Flo really is.

Every dog who is adopted thru the SPIN program is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed or neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative.
