About Bear

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
Bear is a farm dog who was surrendered by his family because the family did not feel they could take the dog on their travels with them. Bear is a handsome, all white, Pyr mix (mostly Pyr) with a dense, luscious fur. Bear gets along with everyone, even the little terrier he is fostering with. Bear and the terrier have a fun game of chase, altho Bear deliberately lets the little one win. Bear does like to get into a shouting match with the other large male in foster area over who is the biggest and baddest. The foster tells them they both are the biggest and baddest, like all moms do, so that seems to work. Bear is the Alan Alda type, who has no desire to be top dog, altho is not terribly submissive either. When he first arrived at the foster's he was hand shy. Now, he comes right up for his share of the petting and treats. He used to be awfully difficult to catch to put the leash on. He walks fine and does not resist, he just moves fast. Now, he actually will come to you (eventually). The foster mom had a dickens of time getting him to load in the back of her truck and found out accidentally that he considers himself a member of the family, not the hired hand. He walked around to the door and stood. Being a mom, she opened the door, and he hopped right in and laid on the back seat. This farm boy is a pet, a good pet. It has been discovered Bear does not like small children.

Because he was not kept on preventative, Bear was Heartworm positive. He has gone through the treatment at the vet and is recuperating. We like to give him the full four weeks at rest. He will be fully recovered and available on April 23rd. This big, ole boy is raring to go.

Every dog who is adopted thru the SPIN program is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed or neutered, heartworm negative and on preventative.
Applications for this wonderful dog are available on our Website: Saving Pyrs In Need.

Petfinder.com has kindly offered each animal adopted thru this site two months of free insurance. Please refer to the petfinder home page for details.<
