Meet Cassian! He is named for “Star Wars” hero, Cassian Andor. He was found on the side of a busy highway, protecting his Pyrenees friend who had been hit by a car. She survived and he was left in the shelter looking very sad. He won over our hearts, so we welcomed to SPIN.
Born around May 2023, gorgeous Cassian appears to be Great Pyrenees mixed possibly with Australian Shepherd. He weighs around 55 pounds and will likely top out around 70-75 when he is finished growing.
You’d never guess this sweet boy seemingly lived on the streets for so long. He loves people, he is an amazing house guest, and the BEST snuggler. His favorite spot is on the couch. Can you blame him? He absolutely craves body contact, and has the “puppy dog eyes” stare down pat.
Now that he’s home from being treated for his minor injuries, getting his vaccinations, and being neutered, he’s entering his own and is definitely in his puppy era! No shoes left unattended are safe, but thankfully he also enjoys the wide selection of toys he has now.
Cassian is being fostered in a home with living with three Great Pyrenees and three cats. He gets along with all of them.
Cassian was at first very reticent to walk on leash, but his foster family is working on that along with other basic commands, and he’s made amazing strides. He is very smart, and very fast. With the right trainer, he’d probably make an excellent agility dog.
He will thrive with a family who has at least one other dog for both company and play. You will love every minute you have with this one-of-a-kind loyal boy.
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention.
