Meet Archie!  He came to us just before Christmas 2023 and he is a young pup who loves to play, especially with other dogs. Archie lives in a foster home with lots of other pups and dogs and would do best in a home with other dogs that will play with him.

His birthday is a little uncertain, but probably somewhere between around June-July of 2023. He currently weighs about 60 pounds, but he’s still got a lot more growing to do, so his adult weight would probably be somewhere in the 90-110 pound range. His coat length is medium-long, and this will probably become a little longer as he grows older.

Archie loves to come right up to you, especially when you are sitting on the floor, and just melt into your lap. He’s 60 pounds of fluff but he thinks he can fit right in your lap just perfectly.

He is house trained and is very good about waiting to do his business outside, only really having issues when he drinks way more water than he should.

He loves to go on walks and has been trained with a leash, although because of his age and curiosity he still pulls some.

He is crate trained although will become restless in the crate when crated for extended periods of time. He does great in the car, and even jumps up into the back seat of his foster dad’s car when it’s time to go for a ride. He is learning sit and come, although these are coming a little slowly.

He has a moderate amount of energy, being a puppy, and spends most of it playing with his furry foster siblings, especially the younger ones. He has been known to steal items off countertops and chew on things he’s not supposed to but is beginning to realize that his Nyla-bones are much better for chewing.

He would do best in a home with a backyard and other dogs to keep him occupied and happy.

He gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters, and though he can play rough, can be very sweet and gentle with dogs and people when he has calmed down after playing.

He is a very hungry boy, and will try to take food from other dogs if allowed, so feeding him separate/in a crate would most likely be necessary until he learns how to behave himself in that regard.

OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
    1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
     2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day.  Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
     3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
     4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs.  They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors.  https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI0

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
