Meet Kayla!  She came to us when she was about four months old and had a fractured ankle.  One surgery and some rehab later and now she is running and playing with the best of them.  She is a young pup who loves to play, especially with other dogs.  She currently lives in a foster home with 5 other dogs and would do best in a home with other dogs that will play with her and snuggle up to her.

Born around 7/1/23, Kayla currently weighs about 50 pounds, and she’s definitely going to grow more, maybe somewhere in the 70-90 pound range when she is fully grown. Her coat length is fairly short, although this could change a bit as she grows into adulthood. She is house trained and is very good about waiting to do her business outside. She loves to go outside for walks, and most of all loves to go out with the other fosters and play.

She is crate trained but becomes restless when crated for extended periods of time. She does great in the car, although she still needs a little help getting into/out of cars because she still hasn’t quite learned how to jump yet. She walks on a leash and knows sit as well.

Kayla has a moderate amount of energy, being a puppy and having that puppy energy, but she will most likely be low-moderate energy as she gets older. She will need a forever home with a backyard and other dogs to keep her occupied and happy.

She gets along well with her foster brothers and sisters, and seeing as how she was the youngest of the pack for a long time, had puppy privileges and even the grumpiest of the senior fosters can’t resist to play with her and love on her. She has had mild food aggression issues, but this is being trained out and she is getting more and more used to people/dogs being close when she has food/is eating.

She loves people and runs right up to strangers without any issue, nudging them for attention and getting lots of love. She has had some interaction with children, and seems to do well, although because she is a puppy she can still be a little rambunctious/jumpy with people when she is excited.

OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
    1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
     2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day.  Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
     3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
     4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs.  They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors.  https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI0

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
