Meet Ralph!  Rambunctious Ralph is a true joy and an absolute lovebug of a pup! His foster mom calls him Ralphie or Jean Ralphio (Parks and Rec, anyone?).

Ralph came into our foster care from a local animal shelter.  He had been a stray with no backstory, lots of dirt and mats, but an open heart looking for a family to love.

He is a 4-year-old purebred Great Pyrenees, and he’s special - he has extra toes on all 4 feet!  All the better to give “high fives” with, and he does that often.

He has a beautiful long coat with a smidgeon of gray on the tips of his ears and has the sweetest expression in his brown eyes.

Ralph is about 70 pounds and is filling out beautifully, and would likely be his healthy best at around 90-95 pounds.

He’s a great guard dog, and uses his big booming bark to warn all the other neighborhood dogs walking by outside that this is his house! He is crate trained, but has no need for one. He is house trained and walks beautifully on a loose leash.

He enjoys car rides but doesn’t trust them until he gets in - most of the time, car rides mean trips to the vet or the groomer, and that’s no fun!

He hasn’t actively sought out water time, but the one time he accidentally took a dip in his foster family’s pool, he swam right over to the side and was no worse for the wear.

Ralph loves kids and has two toddlers in his foster family that he enjoys playing with, but he forgets how big he is sometimes when he’s having fun. He would be best suited for older kids that he couldn’t accidentally knock over.

He’s super playful with his furry foster siblings, and loves playing with his toys. He needs occasional redirection to play with his toys and not try to take things that aren’t “Ralph toys.”

Ralph will happily roll all over the ground with his toys, prance his way to his food bowl when it’s time for dinner, and looks like a Muppet when he runs! He is the ultimate goofball.

Ralph is working on learning that food is abundant and he doesn’t need to fight for his meals. As he grows accustomed to living in a home with lots of food, he needs to be fed separately. Once he’s had his food and is nice and full, he will come back and join the pack without attempting to take their food.

He would do best in a home with other dogs (any size, male or female, he gets along well with all!). He has been around cats and is curious about them, but doesn’t chase them.

Gorgeous Ralphie Boy is fun-loving, fantastic, fluffy, and everything you could want in a Pyr and more.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
