Meet Hercules!  He is the most handsome, wonderful, sweet doggo.  He’s a fun, friendly, happy boy!  He is just a hoot!

Experts tell us he was born around September 2020, but he acts younger than that, like a happy-go-lucky toddler.  He’s svelte at 75 pounds, and doesn’t need to weigh much more.

Ever affable, Herc does great with cats and dogs, big and small.  He is friendly and great when meeting new people, too.  He likes to put his head in your lap as you pet him.   We think he would be fine living with children over age five, because he is not a rough-house boy.

After being found as a stray, Herc was seen by an ortho vet to have his front leg checked out.  They found that he had been shot some time ago.  Not only did his leg get filled with buckshot - it also broke.  It healed up nicely, and as long as he doesn’t run any marathons or do agility, he will be fine.

Hercules would be happiest if he has at least one doggie companion in his forever home.  He absolutely adores is big furry foster friends.  He kisses their lips and licks their teeth!  He likes playing them in a non-rambunctious way.

He is very athletic and requires a sturdy, six-foot fence around his yard.  He can easily scale a four-foot chain-link fence.  He also climbs over baby gates.

Herc is house trained and does okay on leash.  When other dogs bark, he joins in with his uniquely high-pitched voice, which sounds a bit like a girl’s scream!

He is wonderfully crate trained.  Just say “crate” and he goes right in and lays down.  While he’s still living his toddler life, the needs to be crated at night and when you’re out of the house.  Otherwise, he’ll get into things, drag your blankets around, destuff your pillows, and more.

He is still learning his manners, so his humans need to be especially loving and patient as they teach him their rules.

He is not yet used to getting into a car, and doesn’t really want to do that yet.  If you lift his front end, then his back end, he’ll appease you and allow himself to go for a ride.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
