Meet Surprise! Born March 29, 2022, this amazing puppy will likely weigh around 80-90 pounds as an adult.
She has always been the cutest, silliest, sweetest girl. She lays in the funniest positions! She is soft like a teddy bear and has wonderfully big furry ears.
Surprise! came to us quite unexpectedly. Her mother was brought into our rescue in early March and examined by a veterinarian who determined that mom was having a false pregnancy. A few weeks later in foster care, mom had a single puppy. Surprise!
Thanks to a donated DNA kit, we learned her lineage:
50.9% Great Pyrenees
16% German Shepherd Dog
15.8% American Bulldog
17.5% Supermutt (may be small amounts of DNA from Chow Chow, Australian Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog
= 100% Adorable Mixed Breed
Baby Surprise! loves all people. She is happy and sweet with humans, and she has done well with all kids she has met. She will happily lay up against you.
She is a bundle of energy and loves to run and play all day. She must have an active forever home with a yard and space to run around. Still in her puppy phase, she is very mischievous, investigating all items left in her reach. She needs to be kept engaged and stimulated in her environment so she stays out of trouble.
Surprise! must have a large, playful doggy companion in her forever home. She is nice to big and small dogs, but she does tend to invade their personal space. She likes to sneak up and pounce on them! Her forever fur buddy must be patient and tolerant.
We think she would do fine with house cats, because she does not bother the small house bunny in her foster home.
Surprise! is quite talkative when indoors. She likes to tell you when you’re not opening her crate or feeding her fast enough! She has not yet barked a lot outside.
She has been quick to learn basic training. She is almost fully potty trained. She goes in her crate when told “crate.” She does well when sleeping in the bedroom without the crate.
She also knows the commands for sit and off, and she is learning lay down, circle, and shake.
The extreme heat has limited her leash training, and she is doing great so far.
She is getting used to car rides; she drools a fair bit, but does well otherwise.
She likes to play in water, but has not chosen to swim when given the opportunity.
OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors. https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI0
