Meet June! She is a passive, peaceful, and sometimes silly puppy. Born around January 2022 to a Great Pyrenees mom and an Anatolian Shepherd dad, we think she’ll weigh around 80-90 pounds as an adult.
June generally goes by "Junie B" after the children's book character Junie B. Jones. She's a curious, playful little girl who wishes her furry foster brother and sister would play with her more. She is so happy to see them in the morning; she sweetly follows them around and licks their mouth and face until they've had enough.
She likes people and will greet you with a wagging tail, and after a little petting will go on her merry way. She's more independent than her brother and will go off on her to explore her yard, but will eventually come back looking for her brother or foster brother/sister.
Junie B loves playing with dogs. She likes all dogs she’s met so far – male, female, medium, and large. With dogs she's just introduced to, she's curious and will go right up them usually while barking. (She must have a large, playful doggy companion in her forever home. If you don’t already have one of those, adopt a buddy for her from us!)
When not playing, June likes to sit/lay and observe her surroundings. She can keep herself occupied with a toy. She enjoys watching over her yard and will come in the house only after watching the neighbors pass by.
She may end up being a swimmer considering how much she likes splashing in a baby pool, playing in her water dish, and running through sprinklers!
June rides well in a car. She is working on her house training, crate training, and leash training. She barks some, not excessively.
She likes to give love bites, so she shouldn’t be placed with babies, toddlers, or anyone with fragile skin.
We haven’t seen her with cats, but we can find out how she does with them if needed.
OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors. https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI0
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
