Meet Luna! She is a happy puppy, with gorgeous curly Pyr fur and the cutest speckled belly. Born around August 2021, she weighed 45 pounds at six months of age and will probably end up around 75 pounds as an adult. She’s a sweet girl who will give you as many kisses as you’ll allow. Like a typical Great Pyrenees, she’s not always inclined to come to you when called, but she will happily hop into your lap and demand cuddles.
Luna has big lanky legs that she has not quite figured out what to do with yet. She is still young and can be a little jumpy, but she is very gentle with her mouth and not very mouthy for a puppy. She met older children and adored them.
Luna has both big and little foster doggy siblings. She plays well with both and loves to play outside with her big dog friends. Luna has not yet met a cat, but she does well with the bunny in the house and is unbothered by his presence after a little excitement when first meeting.
In her foster home, Luna must sit for her food and use a slow feeder bowl because she eats too fast. She has learned the routine with the dogs she shares her foster home with and will happily wait in her spot to be fed and does not touch anyone else’s food.
Leashes and cars still seem quite scary to Luna and she has not quite figured out how they work but we are working on that in her foster home. Luna is not much of a barker for a Pyr, only occasionally alerting when the other dogs get riled up or something startles her.
She loves toys, especially plush and rope toys but after the toys start to come apart, she thinks the stuffing is a good snack so she has to be watched with some plush toys.
Luna enjoys lounging outside in the sun and will happily hang out outside with the other dogs. She is potty trained and fully crate trained and will even put herself to bed in her crate at night before being asked.
OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors. https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI0
