Meet Dakota!  She is our golden-eared girl who would like nothing better than to be your forever companion.

Dakota is about two years old and came to us with her sister as they were about to be euthanized at the animal shelter after being part of a puppy mill.  She was very underweight when she came to us, and is now at 71 pounds with a bit more left to put on.

She is a quiet, shy, and very loving dog who likes nothing better than to rest her head in your palm and feel the love.  She is great with other dogs and happy to play outside with them until it’s time to come in and cuddle.

She barks at critters and vultures flying overhead but also contentedly naps in her little house.

Dakota is a lover not a fighter.  If she is worried, she will walk away and has never shown any aggression toward people or other dogs and cats.

We don’t know how she will tolerate other animals, but our feeling is she will follow your lead. She loves her food and treats but has never shown any food anxiety and is happy to be fed with her sister and take treats with her foster siblings at her side.

She walks very well on a leash and enjoys being outside walking with her people but loves to come back indoors. She is completely house trained and travels very well in the car although she can be scared when she first gets in. She will happily stay in an X-pen but is very frightened of being crated so we have not tested her on that.

Dakota is an old soul and deserves a wonderful life in a loving family.
