OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors. https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI
Meet Oats! This gorgeous pup with classic Pyr features was born around January 2021. He looks like he’s wearing snow shoes! Judging by the enormous size of his furry paws, we think he’ll weigh around 100 pounds when he reaches adulthood.
Baby Oats was found alone in a creek. A Good Samaritan gave him food, shelter, and love, then contacted us to find a forever home for the pup.
Oats is so adorable! He’s super sweet, playful, and friendly. He loves being near humans and is always happy to see anyone. He gets scared when you pick him up; he lowers himself to the ground and tenses up but allows you to do it.
He loves being with other dogs! He was so happy when he first met the other dogs in his foster home, his tail was wagging non-stop. He loves being close to them and wants to play constantly.
Oats must have at least one large, playful canine companion in his forever home. This buddy will be key to helping him continue growing into a wonderful and delightful family member.
He loves toys, and like most puppies, he loves anything that could be made into a toy, such as shoes, hangers, bottles, and more.
Oats is just now learning how to be a house dog. His foster family is teaching him about potty training.
He can tolerate being crated for short periods during the day. At night, he gets distressed in the crate, so foster mom keeps him near her side instead of locking him up.
Through daily walks, he is slowly getting used to the leash. He tends to pull back and sit when he feels tension, but will pick up and go after he feels comfortable.
He is starting to vocalize sometimes. He barks when he wants to play, when you’re getting his food, and at other dogs walking by.
Oats needs his forever family to understand that he has been through stressful situations prior to being rescued. He is building confidence and trust in humans, and needs to live with people who will continue to nurture his sweet spirit.
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
