Meet Maggie! She is the sweetest cuddle-bug in a compact Pyr package. She is eager to please, affectionate, and looking for a forever family to give her unconditional love!
Born around February 2020, Maggie is small at 60 pounds. She is a “pocket Pyr" - a petite Pyrenees package! As she reaches adulthood, her ideal weight will be around 65 pounds.
Maggie had a rough past, but gained so much confidence and trust during her stay in foster care. She was found as a stray, wandering outside, with no owner to be found. Maggie hadn’t been receiving adequate care, and her skin was covered in an infection that caused large patches of fur to fall out. Since coming into foster care, however, the infection has been treated, and the fur has grown back to its natural loveliness!
Maggie is an absolute sweetheart who loves her family. When she’s not playing with her foster parents or brothers, she’s laying with her foster mom on the couch or taking a relaxing nap nearby. She definitely considers herself a lap dog and will take all the cuddles she can get!
We think Maggie is mixed with another breed such as collie, because she enjoys herding and has more energy than a typical Great Pyrenees.
Sweet Maggie loves people and is very friendly with everyone she meets. She is especially excited when visitors come over! She hasn’t been around children yet, but we think she would be fine with older kids. She’s very excitable and may be too much for younger children!
She gets along nicely with the two cats in her foster home and has never shown any aggression towards them. She does chase them around the house to play - and the cats seem to enjoy it!
Maggie absolutely adores other dogs, and loves having a dog companion that will play with her. She would do great in a multi-dog household with at least one canine buddy as her playmate but would be fine as an only dog as well, as long as she can spend lots of time with her family!
Maggie loves going to the dog park. She likes to say hello to every dog and person, and isn’t shy about jumping up to say hello! Her herding side definitely shows more at the park, and she loves to run circles around the other dogs and chase them while they’re playing fetch. She has a blast!
Maggie loves toys! She’s very playful and loves to roughhouse with her foster dad and foster brothers. She especially enjoys chewing on toys and sticks to keep herself entertained when she’s alone.
Maggie is fully house trained. She is crate trained, but much prefers to be out and about with the rest of the family. She also rides beautifully in a car and is always excited to go on a ride!
Maggie makes an excellent watchdog for her family. She’s very alert and always lets her foster parents know when something is amiss. With her foster parents, she patrols around the house a few times to make sure all is safe. She even once growled and warned off a stranger to protect her foster mom. She takes pride in protecting her family - and her foster parents feel very safe with her on guard!
Marvelous Maggie will be a devoted and loving companion for her new family.
