Meet Loki! He is a very smart and laid-back Great Pyrenees. He was born about January of 2019. At two years old, Loki is a healthy 85 pounds. He could be expected to possibly fill out a bit more and weigh around 90 pounds.
Loki is playful in between his naps and loves to roll in the grass outside and romp around with another large four-legged friend. He loves playing and relaxing outside or finding a quiet spot in the house for a nap. Sometimes Loki thinks he’s a lap dog and needs some hugs, snuggles and pets before a good nap.
Loki has a funny Pyr smile that looks a bit like an Elvis lip curl. His foster family thought it was a snarl at first, but soon discovered that’s just the way he smiles.
Loki was a stray before being rescued by SPIN. He was injured and hungry. He had been shot in his front right leg, but required no surgery and just needed time to heal. He also had a minor injury to his mouth which has also healed and may account for his crooked smile. Loki is heart worm positive but otherwise a healthy and happy boy. Treatment for heart worm is simple and will be addressed in detail with potential adopters.
Loki is very affectionate. He loves to follow his foster mom and “help” her in the kitchen by providing floor clean up and using his body as a speed bump. Loki can also carry a bag of chips to you from the open pantry door or bring you a dirty sock from the laundry. He doesn’t seem to know what to do with these items but is very proud of himself for delivering them.
In his foster home Loki has two big male dogs to play with and he gets along with both of them. Loki would do best in a home with another big playful dog to keep him company.
Loki treats cats nicely by mostly ignoring them.
He enjoys hard chew toys such as large Nylabones to play with and he loves snuggling on the couch with people. Loki’s foster home has two active teen boys that he likes to play with in the backyard. He is comfortable around big kids but has not had a lot of exposure to smaller children.
Loki is fully housebroken and crate trained although a crate is not necessary for him. He is not destructive and prefers to snooze away in a quiet corner if his foster family is away. Loki rides nicely in a car and walks well on a leash.
Loki has the appearance of a typical Great Pyrenees with all white fur. He has beautiful light brown caramel-colored brown eyes. Typical of Pyrs, he will bark when he hears a strange noise or sometimes if he just thinks he hears a strange noise.
Loki can’t wait to find a new forever home and spend quality time with his new family. There’s a perfect family for Loki out there and he can’t wait to meet you!
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere.
