He is quite the talker when it comes to kibble and treats!  Sometimes he gives a “woo-woo” if he thinks you aren’t moving fast enough with them.  And he’ll sing you a lovely song when he hears a siren.

Sweet Leamon is initially shy around new people, but he warms up quickly and loves being near you.

He is much more confident and outgoing with dogs than with people.  He loves romping and playing with his big furry foster siblings.   He is nice to cats, too!  He enjoys playing with toys occasionally.

This poor boy had a rough life prior to being rescued.  He was a stray who cautiously wandered up to some friendly people on the outskirts of Dallas.  He was thin, had hotspots from poor nutrition, an injured eye, and seemed to have trouble with a hind leg.  After some trepidation and escaping a new collar, he rode home in the lap of his rescuer.

A few weeks of good food and good care cleared up his skin and coat, and he became the beautiful dog he is meant to be.  He has allergies to chicken products, so he shouldn’t be given any food or treats made with chicken.

Leamon’s leg pain is caused by an old break in his pelvis.  Due to the age of the injury, surgery is not an option.  He happily takes a joint supplement and fish oil every day with his kibble.  These aids help prevent the pain.   He may occasionally require meloxicam if he becomes sore.  He needs to maintain a healthy weight to keep his hips from hurting.

His eye injury also does not need surgery.  The eye appears small, but he still has some limited vision in it.  He tends to be easily surprised when things come at him from that side.

Leamon is house trained and crate trained.  His leash work is improving as he builds confidence.

Leamon needs a lower energy home without stairs.  He startles easily due to his limited vision, so a home without small children would be best for this sweetheart.
