OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
    1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
     2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day.  Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
     3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
     4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs.  They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors.  https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI

Meet Pretty Miss Peggy!  With eyes the color of chocolate milk, she’s long legged, tall and lanky.  She was born around April 2020.  She is a bit on the skinny side, but has been eating well and slowly putting on weight.  We think her ideal adult weight is a whopping 90-95 pounds!

Sweet Peggy’s previous owner became ill and was hospitalized.  This left Peggy on her own for several weeks before a kind neighbor found her and contacted rescue.

She’s a beautiful medium coated girl with a bit of ginger in her hair care routine.  You know those gingers are spunky girls!  Her coat will likely fill out and lengthen as she continues to get good groceries and care.

Peggy is very sweet, gentle and loving.  She leans against you as a Pyr hug so you don’t forget to pet her.  She does very well with young children.  She loves belly rubs and rolls playfully while enjoying the attention.

She is not a jumper, but since she’s tall, she sees everything on the countertops and is curious about it!

At nine months old, she is still just a pup and has lots of goofy playful energy.  She can be pretty feisty in her play, while still being gentle.  She naps out stretched on the couch after a romp with the other big dogs in her foster home.

Peggy must have a large or medium sized playful doggy companion in her forever home.  She is a dominant female and can be a bit bossy with other dogs.  It’s best if she’s in a home with dogs who can tolerate her alpha behavior.  She does not do well with small dogs.

She is not food aggressive or demanding.  She’s very gentle and shares nicely with the other dogs in the foster home, unless treats are involved!  Then she needs her own space where she knows the other dogs won’t steal her cookies.

She doesn’t pay any attention to the cats in the house.

Peggy is fully housetrained, crate trained, and does very well on leash.

She does not enjoy a car ride.  She becomes very anxious.  When transporting, it’s best to use a harness and pet seat belt or kennel.  Once the ride is over, she happy as a clam and glad to be out!  She may learn to relax with car training by taking short rides over a period of time.

Peggy has not been in foster care very long and will need someone who is kind and patient with her as she continues to realize she’s no longer alone.  For now, it’s best if someone is home a lot in her new forever home.  Given time to decompress from the recent changes in her life, she will settle in just fine.

She’s ready for a lot of love and ready to give it right back to you!

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
