Meet Annie!  This gentle dreamboat was born around October 2018.  She is slender for now; after getting lots of yummy groceries in foster care, she will soon be closer to her ideal weight of around 77 pounds.

It appears that several months before being found as a stray, Annie was hit by a car.  One rear leg was broken then mended nicely on its own.  She had surgery to clean up bone fragments on her other back knee, and now has remarkably good movement.  She will never be a good jogging partner, but she gets around just fine.  She has a barely perceptible limp, and she still runs and plays in short spurts.

Upon coming into foster care, Annie was very thin, filthy, had heavily matted fur and millions of fleas.  Her new adoring foster family immediately gave her a thorough bath and grooming, started her on plenty of groceries, and is tending to her with loving care.

In the first couple of days, she mostly hid in her crate in the house.  She soon became braver, went for a short walk, and immediately bonded with her foster dad.

Only a week later, she was moving through the whole downstairs of the home.  She discovered the joy of a soft dog bed and a Pyrfectly-sized ottoman.

Now when she sees her breakfast, she will sometimes literally jump for joy with all four paws off the floor!

Annie soon met the family’s four-year old granddaughter and fell in love!  Annie jumps with joy when she sees the girl coming to visit!  She adores children and is gentle with them.  She would enjoy being in a home with kids.  She is so gentle, small children can walk her on leash.

She loves going for walks!  She gets excited when she sees and hears the leashes coming out.  She loves meeting new people along the way.  When she meets a new neighbor, she gets so excited that she “pops wheelies” by lifting her front legs off the ground!  She never jumps on anyone.

Annie is remembering how to play and how to be happy.  She is learning how to behave like a dog by following the lead of her foster family’s dogs. She would enjoy being in a home with another dog to show her the ropes.  She is gaining confidence as she adjusts to her new life, and she needs to continue this.

Annie is completely house trained, leash trained, and crate trained.  She rides nicely in a car.   She likes toys and can be a little goofy at times.

We have not seen her with cats.  She has a prey drive, so introductions to cats or other small pets should be done with extreme caution.

Her foster family is filled with awe as they watch Annie’s coat blow in the wind.  It shows them how much she has improved in health and spirit.  Her coat is coming back nicely; it was a little wiry and is softening day-by-day.

She is waiting for her very own loving family.  Will you be the one she looks at adoringly?
