Meet Beau!  Watch his video to see how naturally sweet and happy he is.   (He’s the one in a cone, be-bopping around and wagging constantly as he healed from his neuter surgery.)    https://youtu.be/P0PvFhOMEP

Sweet Beau was born around May 2017.   In his former home, he was an outdoor boy, happily watching over his chickens, horses, and his donkey friend.   He would howl in support of his donkey when it brayed!   His family sadly fell on hard times and, with heavy-heart, asked for help from SPIN.   They want Beau to be given a fresh start with a family that can easily provide for him.

Being a working dog, he stayed on the thin side, and weighed around 75 pounds upon coming into foster care.  He’ll be closer to 90 pounds after getting plenty of yummy vittles, and his fur will likely become longer and thicker than seen in his current photos.

Converting to being an indoor dog has been easy and natural for Beau.  He seems to be enjoying the cushy indoor lifestyle.  He appears perfectly content whether inside or outside.

Beau is extremely friendly with people and their animals.  His favorite hobby is giving you kisses right on your face!   He lives to nap, get pets, and proudly carry his favorite toy around the house. He also looks forward to his daily walk around the neighborhood!

He can sometimes be a bit pushy when trying to get to you for affection - and he's a strong boy!  He definitely doesn't know his size and strength.  For this reason, people in the house should be sturdy enough to withstand a strong, insistent Pyr-paw.

While he can sometimes be very affectionate, he's usually just napping on his own.   He isn't a Velcro dog at all and is usually happy just sleeping around the house on his own.    At night, he has been sleeping near his foster parents in their room, and hasn’t yet tried to get on the bed.   After a few days of settling into his new surroundings, he hasn't awakened them by barking.

Beau has a low energy level.   He does like to play, but only for shorter amounts of time (very Pyr like).  He is aloof and fine being on his own, but sometimes will sweetly come sit by your side, wherever you are.   He's not much of a cuddler and doesn't often try to get on the couch with you, but he does love getting pets and wags his tail when he's getting attention. He occasionally has been giving his foster parents big Pyr hugs when they’re sitting down!

He does well with other large dogs, and is docile with horses, chickens, and cats.   He is curious and friendly with other animals.   He did show some food aggression and occasionally growl at the foster’s other Pyr when he first arrived in their home, but has seemed to move past that after settling in.

He would be fine as an only dog, but would be happy sharing his forever home with another dog friend as well.   He has not shown any separation anxiety as of yet, besides a few whines when his foster mom leaves the house.

Beau is house trained and leash trained.   He is not crate trained, and has no need for a crate.   He sometimes barks to warn you of strangers walking outside, other dogs, strange noises, and so on, but he doesn't bark through the night.   He will likely be a good watch dog and will let you know if someone is around.

He rides nicely in a car, though he does his best to get in the front seat to look out the windshield!   He sometimes needs to be held back to the safety of the second seat.   He needs a bit of coaxing to get into a car and doesn't jump right in.

Overall Beau is a very sweet, affectionate boy who will make a great family dog!

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
