OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors. https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI
Meet Ruthie! She's all about the joy!
Named after Ruth Bader Ginsberg, this little tyke was born around May 2020. She is a striking beauty of Great Pyrenees and Anatolian Shepherd heritage. When she’s all grown up, her ideal weight will likely be around 80-90 pounds.
Ruthie loves meeting new people. She greets everyone with joy! She is such a happy and silly sweetheart. She loves being around people and other dogs all the time. She enjoys having her coat brushed daily.
She is good with children. She is still learning not to jump on people, so any children in the house should be old enough that they won’t get knocked over or be harmed Ruthie’s nails.
Ruthie loves playing with toys, digging in the yard, and racing around. After a short-lived burst of energy, she promptly settles in for a long, sound nap.
Ruthie loves playing with other dogs. She has a blast with the two-year old Great Pyrenees in her foster home. She must have a large, playful doggy companion in her forever home. This fur buddy will help her feel safe and will help her continue growing into a well-adjusted, polite, fun-loving dog. (If you don’t already have a suitable play buddy for her, adopt one from us!)
Ruthie quickly learned the "sit" command. She willingly goes into her crate and stays there when she has a Kong toy filled with peanut butter. She is leash trained and house trained.
She doesn’t vocalize very much, only barking sometimes when she is playing with other dogs.
She rides nicely in a car, laying down for the ride. For now, she adorably needs to be lifted into the car; after she gets a little taller, she’ll be able to do it on her own.
We think she might like swimming, because she cutely plays in the fountain at her foster home.
She is nice to house cats. She sniffs them, they walk away, and she does not chase them.
Ruthie is an amazing girl who will be a constant delight for her forever family.
[Note: Most Anatolian Shepherds enjoy swimming and are strong swimmers. They shouldn't be allowed to swim off leash in public places, however, because they may become territorial if someone else tries to share the watering hole. Swimming for this breed should be relegated to safely enclosed backyard pools.
The Anatolian is a very intelligent, loyal, steady working dog. They're highly trainable, though they're likely to consider whether or not they will choose to obey a command, due to their independent nature. They need an owner who is strong, kind, and consistent as a pack leader.]
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
