Meet Mario!  This gentle, sweet, shy boy is finding more joy and confidence day-by-day.  Found as a stray, he was born around mid-2018 and is on the thin side at 85 pounds.  He could easily still be healthy with another 5-10 pounds.

Mario is easy to have as a companion in the house.  He has nice house manners, choosing not to jump on counters or nose around and get into things.

He is initially cautious with new people, but he is not fearful of them.  He quickly comes to trust you.  He can get silly and excited if you encourage him to play rougher.  Then he gets “the zoomies” and becomes like a bull in a china shop!  You should see him race around the yard!

He is very friendly with people, and would probably do well with bigger kids.  He might not do well with very small children or anyone unsteady on their feet, because doesn’t know his own size and strength.  He leans affectionately on you and sometimes jumps up to people in his excitement.

It seems like Mario was an only dog before being rescued.  He is a little unsure of himself around other dogs and seems unfamiliar with how to act around doggy friends.  Upon first coming into his foster home, he was not fearful or aggressive towards the other dogs, but he avoided them and his first instinct was to run from them.  

After a few weeks of living with his new furry friends, he started learning how to have fun with them.  Now he loves their games of running and playing tag.

Mario does great with dogs his own size.  He should probably not be around smaller dogs at this point, because they could get hurt.  He is sloppy with his big feet, and he has a tendency to want to jump on dogs’ backs.

He might also do well as an only dog, since that seems to be what he is used to.
 
Mario is nice to house cats.  He merely sniffs them and ignores them.

He is house trained, leash trained, crate trained, and rides nicely in a car.  He is not much of a barker so far.  As he becomes more confident, he might start using his voice more often.

This easy-going boy is patiently awaiting his loving, kindhearted forever family.
