OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
    1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
     2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day.  Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
     3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
     4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs.  They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors.  https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI

Meet Sherman!  Born on April 14, 2020, he weighed 34 pounds at 12 weeks old.  He will probably be around 80-85 or more as an adult.

Sherman was initially named Sweet Pea, because that’s what he is.   That name was thought by some to be a bit too girly.   There’s nothing girly about this goofy boy!  He’s a bouncy flouncy nut.

He is the sixth pup born to SPIN mamma, Amy.  Amy came into rescue with a surprise for all of us!  On exam, the staff at the vet’s office saw six little pups in her belly.  Amy had five the evening of April 13th.

Her foster mom was concerned and was all set up to take Amy and the babies in for a check, when Sherman FINALLY decided to make his entrance twenty-three hours late!  He was born very healthy and ready to catch up with the others.  He’s not even the runt!

Sherman’s foster mom had a DNA analysis done on his brother who looks like his twin.  He is a wonderful mix of 50% Great Pyrenees, 12.5% Alaskan Malamute, 12.5% Labrador Retriever, and 25% Herding group.

This sweet pup was very light in coloring initially, and has become a darker blonde as he’s grown.  He has striking ice blue eyes that will look right through to your soul.  No matter the trouble he’s causing (and that’s quite easy for him), he simply looks at you, and you forgive him.  Thank goodness he’s cute!

Sherman is a very sweet pup who just wants to please you and give kisses.  He’s been the smartest of his group to catch on to training and housebreaking, going to the door and barking to let you know he’s serious.

He enjoys water and loves to play in the hose and sprinkler.  He has been in the pool, but would rather lay on the tanning shelf than go for a swim.  He enjoys all sorts of toys, including chasing a laser light.  And loves his cookies.

He’s also very curious about the family cat.  He’d like the cat to be more curious about him!  His great big awkward feet aren’t exactly made for gentle play.

Sherman is an early riser.  He’s generally up before 5:00 a.m. and needs to go outside.  He’s a vocal pup who will not be ignored!  He’s pretty good about settling back down once back inside.  You can quickly lull him into a nap with tummy rubs and snuggles.  He’s into massage therapy and loves the space between his toes rubbed.

He is working on his house training, and needs a person at home most of the time while he is still in his puppy stage.  He is just beginning leash training and crate training.  He rides nicely in a car.

He is an active boy that still nibbles and paws his people, so children in the home should be old enough that they won’t become injured or afraid.

Sherman needs a large, playful doggy companion in his forever home.  His buddy will help him continue to learn proper doggy manners which will aid in him growing into an adult dog that is a delight to have in the family.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
