OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
    1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
     2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day.  Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
     3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
     4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs.  They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors.  https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI

Meet Shelby!  Watch this video of him playing in the sprinkler!  https://youtu.be/0M1BWJliqxU

Shelby is the CrossFit of puppies - he’s a little bit of everything.  He’s cute, crazy, cuddly, fearless, and has personality galore!  He is easy-going and happy-go-lucky.  He’s playful and fun, then it’s naptime, then it’s playtime again.

Born around January 2020 and on the smaller side, he weighed 45 pounds at five-months of age, and we expect he’ll be 60-70 pounds as an adult.

He has eyes that will make you melt.  His glorious coat is long and super-super soft.  He has the Pry self-cleaning hair which is good because he knows how to get dirty!

If there is a mud puddle somewhere, Shelby will find it.  He loves playing in water, puddles, sprinklers, and rain!  Thunderstorms don’t bother him at all.  He likes to dig a hole or two in the yard, and as all Pyrs do, he likes to lay in cool dirt.  And he knows how to work his cuteness if he’s been naughty!

Shelby loves people.  He’s a great companion if you’re working from home!  He will lay low and nap.  He gets excited to see you in the morning and when you come home from errands, but he isn’t a jumper.  While he is in this puppy stage, he needs a person to be home for long stretches of time, so he can continue to learn how to be a good family member.

He is great with kids.  Children should have the maturity to understand that Shelby is still a puppy with puppy manners, and they should know how to be polite with him.

Baby Shelby needs a large, playful, forever doggy companion.  He needs one his own size or larger, so he can rough house with them.  He gets along with male and female dogs and plays well with them.  He enjoys a wrestling match a couple of times a day.

He loves toys!  He’s still a youngster, so he’ll pick up sock, gloves, sticks, paper, whatever, and play and chew on it sometimes.   He figures if it’s on the ground, it’s his!

Shelby is really good about coming inside when called, mainly because he gets a reward and he knows it!  He’s highly motivated by food.  He’ll even lick the dirty dishes in the dishwasher clean if you don’t watch him!

He house-trained easily, learning on his own to come into the bedroom and wake his person so they can let him outside for potty time.

He hasn’t had a need to be put in a crate.  The rare times he has been left alone in the house for a few hours with his foster pups, and he has done really well.

He is not much of a barker, but he’s on watch.  When he is inside, he will alert you if he hears something outside.  He will also bark at you if you sit down to eat and he wants you to share!

Due to covid concerns, he hasn’t yet had many leash lessons.

He is good with cats.

Shelby is such a great pup.  He has character and lights up the room with his personality.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
