May Look Tiny but I Identify as A Big Dog

Hi there! I’m Penelope and I was born around February/March of 2020. I’m an “honorary Pyr” but honestly, I think I’m big just like them! My foster family thinks I might be part Jack Russell terrier or a shepherd mix but I’m definitely 100 percent cute!! If I could choose one word to describe myself it would be busy. I’ve always got things to do with a spring in my step and big dogs to boss around. They don’t scare me because I’m big too!

I’m seeking a family to call my own that has at least one other big dog for me to learn doggie manners from. I am learning to walk on a leash and enjoy short walks in the neighborhood. But I need more practice.

I originally came to SPIN because I was injured and surrendered by my family. SPIN stepped in to provide minor medical care and made sure that I was healthy and ready for my new forever home. Now I’m looking for a home with a fenced backyard of any size, a doggie friend to play with and people who will love and care for me!

Most recently I’ve been in a foster home in the DFW area with a great family that has big dogs, several cats and two kids for me to play with. I get along great with all types of dogs, cats and people.

I would describe myself as tiny but mighty. I am a big dog trapped in a tiny body. I am mostly white with a few light tan areas near my ears and have deep brown eyes. At 4 months old, I weigh 13 pounds and could be expected to weigh about 20-30 pounds when I’m done growing. I’m not a picky eater and I always finish my food so I can grow big like my friends. I like chew toys, rope toys and plastic water bottles (supervised). I love to chase a laser pointer and will take a good long nap after chasing that light around.

I am doing well with house manners. I’m about 90 percent potty trained, crate trained (overnight and when people are gone). I am learning to walk on a leash and I love a good car ride. (I’ll even help you drive!) I occasionally bark but overall I’m pretty quiet. I need reminders not to dig in the backyard. I love water and would be super happy at a house with a pool or even a kiddie pool to splash in.

If you’d like to get together for a meet and greet, please see the info below. I know there’s a perfect family for me out there and I can’t wait to meet you!

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
