OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
    1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
     2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day.  Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
     3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
     4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs.  They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors.  https://youtu.be/R6N8STRl2aI

Meet Panda!  In her brief video, you can see how beautiful, sweet, calm, and affectionate she is.  https://youtu.be/dTT_r9G1Ji4

Born around July 2019, this big girl with a long, soft coat weighed 63 pounds when 10-months old and will likely be around 100 as an adult!  Panda is an Anatolian Shepherd, a close cousin to the Great Pyrenees.

Panda still has her puppy goofiness and a hug-able personality to go with it.  She is a good-hearted pup who loves people (kids and adults), dogs, cats, and other animals.

One minute she’s acting like a puppy, the next she’s acting more grown-up.  Friendly and easy going, she will hang out with you inside and nap for a while, and then play, run, and roughhouse when the pups all go outside.

Overall, she is calm, but if you leave for a bit and come home, she gets excited to see you and jumps a little, but nothing too crazy.  Because of her size and exuberance, it’s best if people in the home are sturdy enough that they won’t get knocked over.

Panda is extremely patient with the four-month old puppy in her foster home. She gently wrestles with the pup and lets the pup nibble her and jump on her. It’s very cute watching them play.

And Panda really wants the senior house dog in the house to like her!  She gets in his face and licks him, and sits next to him whenever she can.  When he’s feeling grumpy tells her to go away, she reluctantly complies.

She needs a large, playful canine companion in her forever home.  We have a few for you to choose from if you want to adopt a buddy for her as well!

Panda needs a strong-willed owner with a warm heart – a benevolent leader who gently and steadily reinforces family rules.  She is smart and learns quickly with positive and consistent praise. Treats work very well for her when reinforcing good behavior!

If Panda gets caught doing something bad you just look at her and say “NO” and she either looks at you with her big eyes and gives you the “I’m sorry” look, or she quickly moves to a different position and looks at you like, “What? I’m not doing anything!” look. Either way you just want to hug her.

If she is outside barking and you call her inside, she considers your request for a few seconds and then comes running, because she knows she gets a treat.

She shows a little stubborn streak when it’s time to go to bed.  When allowed outside for one last potty break, she ends up laying in the grass and needs coaxing to come back inside.  Maybe she likes the coolness of the grass at night, or she’s insisting on carrying out her night time guard duties, or she’s just hoping you get tired enough of asking and tempt her with a treat.  She’s a smart one!

She loves food and will occasionally want to see what’s on the counter. After the other dogs are done eating, she will check their bowls for leftovers.  She is not food aggressive; she just likes food!

Panda is almost finished with her house training – she doesn’t always get the purpose of her last nighttime potty break!  She will understand this soon enough.

She needs a little more practice and guidance to perfect her leash training.  She does well in a car, especially if she has someone sitting with her.

Panda will be a loyal companion to her forever family!

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
