Meet Lily!  She will be a good, easygoing family companion.  This calm, ladylike girl was born around March 2019.  She is a little thin at 70 pounds, and will likely fill out to be Pyrfectly proportioned at 80 pounds when she finishes growing.

Sweet Lily was found as a very thin stray, having apparently been on her own for a while.  A good Samaritan worked patiently to bring her to safety and took her to a veterinarian for vaccinations and other needed healthcare.

Lily is a little quiet and reserved.  She carries herself very much like a polite lady, except when she thinks you should keep petting her!  Then she will give you an insistent Pyr paw to let you know that you aren’t done yet.  She relishes attention and frequently gives you her paw so that you will pet her.

Lily is gentle with children.  She is fond of the teenage boys in her foster home.  She would probably also be okay with low-key, younger children.  Baby and toddler skin might be too thin to withstand her persistent pawing.

She is a little skittish, so you need to have a soft voice with her.  If she has something she’s not supposed to, you just have to raise your voice a little, and she’ll drop the item and skedaddle.  We think she would like a quieter house.

She likes to play chase outside and wrestle with her foster doggy friends.  But she doesn’t play rough with people.  In her forever home, she needs a playful dog companion that will play with her and hang out with her.  She is fine with dogs of all sizes and ages, and being around them gives her a sense of comfort.  She is used to always having other pups and people around, so she might not fare well if left all alone for 8 hours a day.

She loves toys!  Be sure to have a good supply or she will find her own – like your pillows, blankets, and clothes!  She is still in her puppy stage, after all.

Lily likes to spend time in the yard in the shade and hang out during the day.  Her original owners may have kept her outside at night, because sometimes she heads outside around bedtime and finds a place to bed down.  But her foster mom coaxes her inside, and she is getting use to the routine and heads for the bedroom.

Lily loves walks and is great on a leash.  She is fully house trained and has no need for a crate.  She rides nicely in a car.  And she does well with house cats.

Lily is also a calm eater, not food aggressive, and takes treats nicely.

She’s pretty good about responding to calls to come inside, especially when bribed with a little treat!

At night she will occasionally bark when she hears something.  To block out anything she may be hearing and prevent her barking while you’re trying to sleep, it works to keep her in your bedroom and turn on the ceiling fan.   But if she does hear something in the middle of the night, she can be persistent about wanting to go out.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
