Meet Harley! This calm, beautiful girl was born around August 2018. She is fully grown and in very good health at a pint-sized 45 pounds! She is truly a “pocket Pyr.” Her DNA results show that she is 100% Great Pyrenees.
Harley has a big, full, heavy cowl of fur inviting you to snuggle up and pet as long as you’d like, and she loves it! She loves cuddling with her people during the day and sleeping with them at night, and she frequently comes to them for hugs and play. She loves crawling into your lap for pets and cuddles.
Harley was left behind with two other dogs when her family moved away. She stayed close to home and was fed by a neighbor until coming into rescue. Scared and confused, she quickly escaped from foster care, trying to return home. After being rescued a second time and staying with her foster furry foster pack, she’s come to realize there are people in this world who love her and want to keep her safe and happy.
She’s very playful with toys and other dogs. She has four other dogs in her foster family, including a young pup who loves to use her as his chew toy! She patiently allows him to nibble on her, and she lovingly snuggles with him. There are also two cats in the home. She’s very curious but gentle with them.
Harley needs to be in a forever home that has another dog. She will not do well if she is the only dog in the house. If you don’t already have a canine companion for her, adopt one from us! Having two big, white fluffies is better than one!
She enjoys water sports! She’s had some great times romping on the tanning shelf of the pool with the other fosters. Good thing these pups dry off quickly!
Harley is eager to please and is just starting some basic training. She’s definitely figured out that treats come with just a little work!
To be safe, we kept Harley on a long lead initially. Within a week, it was clear she was comfortable and felt safe, so she was given the run of the yard. There have been no escape attempts or interest in bolting. She’s been to the front door to greet visitors and shown no interest in leaving – only interest in what the visitor may be bringing her in the way of snacks or toys! It will be important for her adopter to give her plenty time to relax and learn the home’s routine.
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
