OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors. https://youtu.be/3aoG4Ia_9P0
Meet Gus! Born around the end of September 2019, this fluffy, mellow goofball will likely weigh around 90 pounds when he finishes growing. He was surrendered to us after his owner fell on circumstances too insurmountable to overcome.
Baby Gus is a lover and snuggler. He gives great nose bumps and gentle kisses while bopping you with his giant puppy paw. He has stolen several hearts with his sweet face and laid-back personality. He’s gonna steal yours and never give it back!
This adorable puppy enjoys rough and tumble play with other dogs as well and snuggles and kisses. His foster home includes SPIN foster Gemma, (who’s a week older), and Ava, (who’s a year old now), plus two other young dogs, and the family cat.
He needs a big, playful dog companion in his forever home. If you don’t already have one of those, adopt one from us!
Gus enjoys pulling all the toys out of the basket, searching for his favorites. He also loves to chase after a laser light. He’s a bit of a ding-dong still and doesn’t always keep up with the others, causing them to trip and flop all over in a big pile!
He loves being outside. The rain and chilly weather don’t bother him at all. He loves to lay on the back patio and nap, not the least bit interested in coming inside.
Gus is doing well with potty training, but still needs a little more time and direction. He’s pretty quiet, so you have to really watch him and listen for his little whimper telling you that he’s serious about needing to go outside.
He knows “sit”, “come”, “leave it”, “kennel”, “don’t eat the house!” and answers to “Gus” and “August.” He responds well to “do you want a cookie?” He has begun leash training and is doing very well.
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
