OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors. https://youtu.be/3aoG4Ia_9P0
Hello! I’m Twiggy, and I was born in late September of 2019. If I could choose one word to describe myself, it would be fearless. I’m the runt of my litter but you’d never know it, because I am ready to take on any challenge. I’m looking for a family to call my own that can spend some time helping me learn to be a great dog.
I enjoy playing outside a lot, but would be happiest as an inside dog with plenty of outside play time and short walks in the neighborhood. I’ve also experienced a dog park and I loved it, but the wood chips there upset my tummy so I’d need reminders not to eat wood chips.
I was rescued by SPIN when I was about 5-weeks old, and have been learning and growing in a foster home in the DFW area ever since. My foster home has a great family with dogs, cats, and two kids for me to play with. I get along great with all types of dogs, cats, and people.
I would describe myself as tiny (for a Great Pyrenees), but mighty! I have white fur with a few light tan spots and brown eyes. At 3 months old I weigh 22 pounds and could be expected to weigh about 60-70 pounds when I’m done growing.
I’m not a picky eater and can eat dry kibble just like the big dogs. I also like to munch on ice as a treat. I like hard chew toys, rope toys and soft squeaky toys. I love to play tug of war with my doggy friends and show off how strong I am.
Speaking of dogs, I’d need to have another dog in my forever home to continue teaching me how to be a great pet. If you don’t have a dog currently, you can adopt two of us! I have some siblings that will be up for adoption soon too!
I have good house manners. I’m working on potty training, and I’ve almost got it. I sleep well overnight in a crate but occasionally whine to let you know it’s almost morning time and I need to potty. I don’t have accidents in my crate. I walk well on a leash and like riding in the car, but on long car rides sometimes my tummy gets upset. I occasionally bark to get your attention, but overall, I’m pretty quiet. I am usually gentle around small humans, so I’d be a great brother for kids of all ages. I might need reminders to be calm, but I am still a puppy and have some puppy zooms I need to get out occasionally.
I am trying to learn basic obedience skills like sit and no, and my foster family thinks I am doing great! I like to work on obedience skills with small treats or bread as rewards. I am easily redirected when I’m doing something that I shouldn’t, and I’m eager to please my new forever family and learn their rules.
If you’d like to get together for an introduction please see the info below. I know there’s a perfect family for me out there, and I can’t wait to meet you!
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
