OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not a good situation for you or the puppy.
3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors. https://youtu.be/3aoG4Ia_9P0
Meet Wink! This free-spirited pup was born around late August 2019 and is full of fun puppy spunk. He looks just like The Velveteen Rabbit!
You may have been following Wink’s progress on social media and if so, you already know that Wink came to us with trauma to his right eye resulting in the eye being removed. Wink has done very well and is an extremely happy guy that is now ready to find a forever home.
As a puppy, Wink has a lot of energy and loves to play with his foster dog pals and family. Having lost his eye, Wink has no vision on his right side which is a safety concern, and his new family has to be mindful of this new challenge for Wink. Over time, Wink should learn and adapt to having only one eye and adjust for that. Right now, being so young, he runs and plays with reckless abandon and easily runs into objects, off things, and can even possibly fall into things. He is doing great, but cannot be left alone around things that can pose a danger right now like swimming pools.
Mr. Wink is a Pyrenees mix with a tan coat with bands of white. He will likely top out around 70-80 pounds. Due to his injury, we know that Wink is comfortable spending some time in a crate or in an area set aside for him. He will need lots of attention, patience and love to introduce him to the outside world and walking on a leash.
Keeping in mind wink is still very young and has his puppy teeth, he would do best with kids old enough to be cautious when playing. He gets along great with his dog friends and keeps trying to play with a cat that has no interest in playing with him whatsoever.
Wink has spent some time riding in the car and is working on his potty training. He is a wonderful pup that needs a loving home with a family that will keep him safe and provide endless encouragement.
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
