It is our pleasure to introduce Princess Anne! We just call her Annie. Born around September 2014, she is tall and fit at an impressive 100 pounds!  This cautious and loving girl is looking for a human with the heart of a rescuer – someone patient, kind, and willing to wait a few weeks to earn her eternal devotion.

Her foster mom had Princess Anne's DNA analyzed. She is 75% Great Pyrenees and 25% breed group Middle Eastern and African or Mountain Dog or Herding or Guarding. Whatever the 25% is, it’s all energy! She is 75% napper and 25% jogger!

Annie is slow to warm up but is making great progress in her foster home. She barks at people she doesn’t know. After getting to know you, she allows you to scratch her belly and caress her pretty face.  Her favorite place to be is on a cozy dog bed in the house with her people.

When bringing new people into your home, she is most comfortable if she meets them outside first for several minutes before going indoors. Then she relaxes more and barks less. She needs more coaching and practice to get used to strangers coming into her space.

She walks quite nicely on a loose leash and will happily go on walks as long as three miles as an only dog or with doggie friends. Annie startles at sudden noises but she sits quietly and takes it in before she calms again and is ready to continue walking.

Annie is sometimes frightened of going to new places, but her foster mom recently took her to a pet store and gave her a bath and she did absolutely great!

She rides in the car nicely but is sometimes timid when getting out at a new place. It takes her a few minutes to survey what’s outside the car before she feels comfortable jumping out.  It’s helpful if she has a doggie friend with her.

Annie absolutely loves going the dog park with her furry friends and doesn’t want to leave!  She will run and run around the park, especially the perimeter, to make sure all the dogs are safe.

Annie does great with kids of all ages and loves to snuggle with them. Annie does not seem to want to get on furniture although it’s allowed in her foster home. She adorably cuddles into her doggie bed.

Annie gets along great with large and small male and female dogs. She seems especially enamored of the males. She follows them around the house and yard, joins them outside in chasing squirrels and barking, and loves playing with them.

She will do best if she has a large, playful doggy companion in her forever home, so she will feel at ease when her people are away. If you don’t already have a canine friend for her, adopt one from us!

Oftentimes when her furry foster friends are outside, Annie is inside, lounging on a dog bed near her human. Then her 25% active genetics kick in! When she’s outside with the other dogs and they are laying in the grass, she is jogging the perimeter of the yard, tail high in the air, mouth sporting a wide grin.

She likes toys and chew bones. She selects her favorite ones and carries them to her own special toy pile. When outside, she loves drinking from a huge water bowl as she splashes in with both front paws!

Annie is nice to house cats, calmly sniffing them and gently allowing them to sniff her.

Annie is house trained and dog-door trained. She can be fully trusted to roam freely in the house and yard when her people are away.  It might be easiest for her new family if their home has a dog door that allows her to freely go inside or out during the day. However, in her current foster home there is no dog door and she has never had an accident. Annie will most likely be fearful when first arriving to her new home, and she is hesitant to pass by someone holding the door open for her.

Annie needs a forever home with people who are calm, gentle, extra patient, confident and loving in helping her overcome her fears. The most important thing to remember when adopting Annie (and this is true in all adoptions) is the 3 day, 3 week, 3 month rules (see graphic in her pictures).

Annie is slow to warm up but her love and affection is worth waiting for!

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
