Meet Diesel!  This gorgeous boy was born around June 2016.  He is slightly on the small side, and will likely be around 90 pounds when he finishes getting his much-needed groceries.

Before coming into rescue, Diesel found himself all alone in a dog shelter.  He was thin, matted, had a cold, and was really scared!  His foster mom quickly got him cleaned up, fed, and healthy.  He is gaining weight and confidence every day.

Now he is a happy, sweet, sweet boy!  He stands next to you so he can get petted.  He’s still a little shy when meeting new people, but he is making strides there as well.  Did we mention that he’s super-sweet?  He loves kids, and is gentle with them, too.

He already knows how to be a good house-doggy.  He is fully house trained.  He doesn’t get on furniture, even when encouraged to do so.  And he doesn’t jump on people.

He is crate trained, and he really likes his crate.  It’s his safe place when he needs it, and his lazy resting place when he’s tired.  He likes having the crate door open all the time so he can come and go as he pleases.

So far, he doesn’t seem all that playful with toys.  He prefers to just hang out in the house or walk around the back yard.

He would do best in a home where someone is home a lot.  He would like a constant doggy companion.  If there are children in the house, they should be considerate and dog-savvy, understanding how to keep him from getting nervous as he adjusts to all of these recent changes in his life.

He has had basic leash training, but hasn’t yet worked on other commands such as “sit” and “lay down.”

We don’t yet know how he does with house cats, but we can find out if needed.  We do know that he loves chasing wild bunnies out of the yard, then barking at them like, "Now stay away!"

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
