Meet Wanda, also known as TaWanda (from Fried Green Tomatoes)!

Wanda is a sweet 3-year-old girl that was found wandering the streets on her own, and thanks to Duck Team 6 is now with Spin Rescue and safe.  We don’t know much about her background.  She has had a litter or two, but she has retired from being a mom and is enjoying it!

Wanda is a slight 73 pounds right now.  We are working to put some much-needed weight on, and she will be healthy at about 85 pounds.  She has the cutest freckles on her nose, soulful brown eyes, and a beautiful long white coat.

Wanda is house trained and is able to be inside for long periods of time.  Her foster mom is a teacher and has not had any issue with accidents in the house.  A crate is not necessary, but she has shown interest in counter cruising, so making sure food is put away is a good idea.  She is a very mellow dog and would be a great companion to an older dog because she is so gentle.  She is tentative to get in the car, but once in, she likes to stick her nose out the window and settles in nicely.

She is becoming braver every day.  She was a very fearful dog when she came to Spin, but is learning that she is safe and loved.   She is finding her playful side and has even let out a bark or two, but she will start out very shy.  She follows the actions of her two senior foster sisters, and has not displayed any issues with other dogs who are friendly to her.  She is timid to meet new dogs at first, but usually warms up to them. She has not been cat tested.

Wanda would do best in a quiet home with adults or older children only that understand that she’s been through some rough times and will need time to adjust. She loves kisses, cuddles, and will grunt happily if you hug her.  She would do best with a doggie companion that can show her the ropes, and possibly become a playmate.

Wanda is slightly heartworm positive and is currently on treatment. She will need to continue treatment for the next 9-10 weeks (through May-June 2019).

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
