OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:

    1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
     2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day.  Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not good situation for you or the puppy.
     3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
     4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs.  They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.

Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors.  https://youtu.be/3aoG4Ia_9P0

Meet Herbert!  With classic Pyr features and a long, smooth coat, he has a stout build and legs like tree trunks!  He will likely have some girth to him and be a big boy, reaching about 90 pounds as an adult.  He was born around August 2018.

He has the biggest jowls!  They swing when he walks.  You’ll want to grab them and hold on to them.  Luckily, he is not at all slobbery.

Baby Herbert is the sweetest boy!  He loves getting pets and hugs from his people.  He is quite a talker when he wants attention.  When he wants to be in your lap, he’ll walk under and between your legs while giving you a soft whine like, “Huhhh, huhhh, hrrruhh.”  He will climb right into your lap to soak up all the hugs you can give.

He loves to play, play, play.  He plays nicely with people and play-wrestles with other dogs.  He will take charge gently if no other dog takes the lead.

He needs a doggy companion in his forever home.  His first pick would be Walker, who is also available for adoption.  They were found as strays together, and have been best pals for a long time.  He is not happy with small puppies climbing on him (even though he did the same thing!).

He can be funny sometimes, especially when it comes to his breakfast or dinner!  That’s when he becomes a tiny dancer, twisting around and circling you until you feel like you’re in the middle of a fish bowl!

Herbert is house trained with a pet door.  He walks on a leash and doesn’t fight it, yet he needs a little more practice to be smoother about it.

He is fine being put into a car for a ride, and rides quietly in his crate.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
