OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR PUPPY ADOPTION:
1) PUPPIES WILL ONLY BE PLACED IN HOMES WITH YOUTHFUL, PLAYFUL, DOGS. This helps integrate the dog into your household easier by giving the pup a mentor.
2) In addition to the youthful playful dog, someone MUST also be home at least part of the day. Please do not apply for a puppy if you are gone 8-10 hours a day. It is not good situation for you or the puppy.
3) You must have plans in place to socialize your puppy properly.
4) Our puppies are not livestock dogs. They must be family pets that are allowed inside the home.
Please watch this short video which demonstrates how puppies learn polite behavior from their adult dog mentors. https://youtu.be/3aoG4Ia_9P0
Meet EmmyLou! She is a total sweetheart! This puppy was born around May 2018. She’s a little on the small side for the breed, and will likely be around 75 pounds when she reaches adulthood.
She is so fluffy, she looks like a big fur-bucket! Her coat is very thick, she has a super long ruff around her neck, and she sports a gorgeous, happy, curled tail. And she has the cutest eye-liner that looks like she forgot to finish her make-up under one eye before running out the door.
Little EmmyLou is so easy to have around! She is no trouble at all. She comes to you when she wants attention, but she is not pushy about it, and she is not needy.
Her favorite thing is laying outside, surveying her domain and keeping an eye on what’s happening. Given a choice, she prefers spending most of her time in the peaceful outdoors.
She loves sitting and laying in water puddles. She doesn’t mind getting wet and will go out in the rain!
She likes the company of other dogs and sometimes plays with the big dogs and the puppies in her foster home. She plays limited games of chase and tug with them, but she is not one for wrestling.
When she’s not outside, you’ll find her happily lounging indoors. She has no need to go out the front door, and doesn’t want to risk any dangers that might lurk out that way. Being new to foster care, she still is practicing an abundance of caution.
EmmyLou is house trained using a pet door.
She is crate trained and likes taking her meals in it. She loves napping in one, especially if it’s in the corner.
She is fine going up and down porch stairs, so a two-story home might be fine for her.
She is not much of a barker, only sometimes woofing at the goats on other side of fence or the cows in the back pasture.
She is not leash trained, because a leash and Emmylou are not best friends. She needs more time to overcome her fear of them. If you want a door-stop, put a leash on her; she flattens to the ground when leashed.
Riding in a car is not one of her favorite things to do. If she has to go, she will flatten to the floorboard and ride quietly until it’s all over. She’d much rather stay home.
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
