Meet Oakley!  She was born around Nov 2017.  Right now she’s 65 pounds, and we think she’ll fill out to around 75-80 pounds when she’s all grown up.  She has the most beautiful, luxurious, long coat that gets adorable wavy when wet.

True to her Pyr heritage, she is an opinionated miss, meaning she likes things her way and can be stubborn.  If you don’t do things her way, she looks at you with disdain and walks away.

Even so, she is very easy to have around.  Is very compliant with being handled, and she doesn’t even protest when you take food away from her.  She is a bit shy and reserved with new people.
Being new to rescue, she doesn’t yet come up for attention, and she seems to be trying to fading into background.  All she needs is more positive attention.

Oakley was raised as a country girl, spending most of her time outdoors, engaging a lot with the kids of the home.  She really loves being outside.  Now she has been placed into a city environment where being indoors is new to her, and she’s slowly learning to enjoy those comforts and obey the silly rules!

She is learning to accept wearing a collar and walking on a leash.  She’s getting used to riding in a car; she needs encouragement to load up, then she lays very still and is very quiet.

She is crate trained, and is quiet when in it.  She likes for it to be her own space and doesn’t appreciate when other dogs try to join her there.

She is so funny when she’s playing!  She attacks water coming from sprinklers.  She splashes in water puddles.  She races around the yard.  She chases bugs.  She takes all of her toys outside.  She throws her toys in the air and chases them!  Chew toys, tug toys, Kongs, and other big-dog toys are all her favorite.

She loves playing with dogs her size.  She likes playing tug and chase with them.  She loves patrolling the fence with the rest of the pack.

She has been fine with the five-foot fence at her foster home.  She’s not a big barker, but will join the others if they alert to something.  We think she probably not be good with cats in the house.

A dog-savvy, active forever family with kids would suit her wonderfully.  She relishes the company of many people and seeing lots of the world.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
