Meet Marshmallow! This beautiful sweetie-pie was born around 02/28/2017. Even with her delicate features, she’ll be around 90 pounds when she’s full grown in another year and a half.
Marshmallow came to our rescue group from a local shelter. Right now, she’s a little tentative when meeting new people. Her foster mom, the grandchildren, and the neighbors are helping her regain her confidence. She is really good with children.
After she has time to assess new people, she warms up to them and becomes playful. She loves people of all ages. She could do fine in an apartment or with seniors/elderly as long as she gets frequent walks.
She is still in puppy mode and loves to play! Her favorite toy is her Kong, especially when it’s filled with peanut butter. And she likes splashing about in the puppy pool.
This girl is very friendly and playful with other dogs of all sizes. She doesn’t even cause any issues at meal time – if one dog goes for her bowl, she gives it up willingly and goes to a different one.
She is house trained and crate trained. She sleeps peacefully in her crate at night, and goes in nicely if foster mom needs to leave for a couple of hours. We’re working on her leash training, and will make more strides with that when the weather cools. She is eager to learn, especially when treats are involved!
She even takes cues from the older, more experienced dogs. When she first arrived at her foster home, she followed the gigantic “king” dog as he showed her where the door to the backyard was and how to open the door so she could go out when she when wanted. He then took her to the fresh water and his favorite place to go potty. Because she’s new to the house and has been reluctant to use her voice, the lead dog is also helping her find her bark.
Merry Marshmallow even comes when called! Not all Pyrs do that. She rides nicely in a car. She does not jump on people; she will sit and wait to shake hands. How adorable!
When she is resting from playtime, she can be very laid back and lovable. And you’ll catch her sleeping on the cold tile.
SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
