Meet Rocky! He is a Great Pyrenees mix, although it is difficult to tell exactly what he is mixed with. He doesn’t have any dewclaws on his hind legs, they may have been removed when he was young.

We are guessing he’s between 2 and 3 years old. He currently weighs about 70-75 pounds, which is a healthy weight for his size right now, and he is fully grown.

Rocky is currently in a home with several other Pyrenees foster dogs, and he loves having other dogs to play with. He is house trained and loves to go outside for walks and going to dog parks.

Rocky doesn’t bark very much; he is rather skittish and prefers to hide/avoid things that make him scared/uncomfortable rather than bark at them. He does not do well in the crate, despite some training. He is a very good escape artist and has been known to flip over crates he is in and find a way to escape them.

He does well in the car, he will jump up to go in, but he does like to try to make his way to the front as much as possible. Rocky loves attention but can be a little selective with who he feels comfortable with.

He gets a little shy/timid around new people. However, once he bonds with a person, he forgets the meaning of personal space and follows them wherever they go, trying to be a lap dog as best he can.

He has a low-moderate amount of energy. He could probably tolerate an apartment setting well, but would need long daily walks and/or a buddy to play with throughout the day.

He does great with meeting new dogs and integrated into the pack very quickly when he arrived to his foster home.  He loves to be close to the dogs and people he is bonded with.

He can play a little rough with other dogs when he gets full of himself, but it’s always playing and he will back off if the other dog lets him know when he is being too much. He does not have any food aggression issues with people or dogs, but he does love food and will finish as quickly as he can.

Rocky wants to find his person to be bonded with and never leave their side. He has some separation anxiety issues, although these have improved as he has gotten more comfortable in his current home.

He does well with kids and is gentle enough to let the kids come to him to pet him.

SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
